Guh...(that's a noise of apprehensive frustration)...
So, I've never done a photo manip before, I don't really know HOW I feel about this, but I wanted to post it anyway. I figured, since I can't draw/paint/do anything remotely visually artistic, I would try to give something to the House art community (since it's far too small). I'm still getting used to photo shop, I hope I can get BETTER. Anywho, I decided that this was how the dock scene should have ended.

heard back from my rheumatologist. well, it's a good thing that i don't NEED my wheelchair to access the pool 100% of the time (as in, i don't need a lift to get in and out of the pool), because the pool therapy places here don't take wheelchair patients - it's a LIABILITY for them.

i am BEYOND words.

so he gave me two other numbers. i'm going to call them and see if their buildings are accessible at least (or if that's a fucking liability). one is a high-end aerobics class and i don't think i can keep up with it but the other does t'ai chi type things in the water. he thinks that would be better anyway.

Network Maintenance: Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 04:00-06:00 UTC/GMT
On Saturday the 14th at 4AM UTC/GMT we will be upgrading the operating system of our network load balancers to a newer version, one that will allow us to use both CPUs! Nifty, because multiprocessing is nice.

Since we have 2 load balancers, the plan is to upgrade 1 at a time, and there really should be very little impact to our website. Hopefully you won't notice a thing and I'll get to go back to the hotel and watch some wonderful late night infomercials.

We've got a lot of exciting projects coming up for 2010 and we're hoping that we'll be able to deliver them all to you, that you will find it useful/cool/lovely and then you will use the site even more. Behind-the-scenes work like this will give us the capacity to handle the anticipated traffic, so expect a few more maintenance windows especially in the beginning of next year as we've got some neat ideas to improve performance around here! We had the recent 30-45 minute outage yesterday due to one of our logging databases filling up disk space -- not so great design coupled with my human error in handling the initial problem -- and it looks like we're going to finally have some resources to eliminate stuff like that. I can't wait!

As usual, I will be updating status.livejournal.org before and after, just in case you are not able to reach our main website during the work.

Summary: After his infarction and Stacey taking his life into her hands without respecting his wishes, House is released from hospital. He is not willing to forgive Stacey, though. She so takes a little break at her sister's place, asking Wilson to keep an eye on House & hopefully also help him finding back to living his life, again.

Remembrance Day
Today is a statutory holiday in Alberta, so I'm at home thinking about Remembrance Day and war. Neither of my grandfathers fought in WWII. My maternal grandfather was a few years too young to have fought in WWI, and when WWII came around he was a farmer with five children at home. My paternal grandfather volunteered but was ruled physically unfit to serve. My paternal grandmother's brother died serving in England, he was 19 years old. My father doesn't remember him but my grandmother claimed he taught him how to swear.

Here are three poems by Danny Martin, a young English poet who served in the current Iraq invasion.
